Private Reference Project
This site is privately operated. It is not run by St. Clair County, the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, the St. Clair County Jail, the Circuit Clerk, the State's Attorney, the Illinois Department of Corrections, or any federal detention agency. The name describes the topic of the resource, not ownership by a public office.
We do not operate a jail, maintain an official roster, control court records, or decide who is in custody. We cannot release anyone, transfer anyone, change release conditions, post bond, schedule visits, correct an official record, or provide legal advice.
What the Resource Does
The site is built around public navigation. St. Clair County has several separate record systems: county jail records for current custody, Circuit Clerk records for filed court cases, Illinois Department of Corrections records for sentenced state prisoners, and federal or immigration locators for separate custody systems. Those sources are easy to confuse because names, charges, holds, and court events can overlap.
Our pages explain those differences in plain language. A jail booking can show custody. A court case can show filed charges and case events. A state locator can show a sentenced person after transfer. A federal or immigration locator can apply when county records do not tell the full custody story.
Records and Responsibility
Official records remain with the agencies and courts that create them. Public pages, roster portals, court indexes, and third-party search tools can be incomplete, delayed, or changed after review. A booking entry does not prove guilt, and a pending charge is not a conviction.
Nothing here should be treated as a consumer report, legal opinion, custody certification, court notice, or government statement. Important decisions should be based on official records from the office that created the record.
